mba & career as a professional money manager
When Solveig Caroline started her career as a professional money manager for one of the world’s biggest asset management companies in 2006, MBA and 2 more college degrees in pocket, her sense of responsibility told her that it was up to her to keep her body healthy enough to sustain the stresses of that job. So she began reading any alternative health book she could find for a few minutes with breakfast every day. She applied a great deal of the wisdom she found to her life - always working with the time constraints put on her by her choice of career in finance. Still, by the age of 29, she had been grinding her teeth every night for 2 years from the stress, chronic exhaustion was her constant companion, and her body was so weakened and inflamed that it took her more than 2 weeks rather than 3 days to recover from a routine wisdom tooth extraction.
A year later (2010), she realized she was in a full-blown burnout. Hence, she decided to seek out psychological counselling. Solveig Caroline knew that if she didn’t take steps to claim her life back, nobody would. She knew that nobody would reward her for running her body into the ground. And no bonus in the world would be big enough to buy back a healthy body...
The million dollar question was:
how do I rearrange my life in such a way that allows me to follow my biggest dreams AND heal my physical body at the same time?
With the help of her counsellor, she opted to switch to part time work (4 days instead of 5). This allowed her to still pursue her finance career while freeing up precious time to balance herself out. She began learning about Reiki (and eventually became a Master Teacher), started yoga teacher training, and completely changed her nutrition.
The first 3 months worth of free Fridays were spent sleeping. Afterward, Solveig Caroline began to fill the extra free day with life-giving activities such as fasting, an extra yoga class, creating art, long walks in nature and the like.
The more she allowed herself the down time and freedom of spending it on whatever made her feel good, the more effective she became in the workplace. Her entire life experienced an uplift that she herself felt was nothing short of a miracle.
