abundance of passion + lack of physical/mental self-care = burn-out
I burned myself out the first time while I was working full-time as a money manager in a large corporation. I was passionate about my work, and a true perfectionist, had witnessed the financial crisis in real-time, and I was handling large amounts of client money.
Then add some family issues along with unquestioned nutritional habits and you've got the perfect breeding ground for chronic fatigue, neck pain, tooth grinding, indigestion and ultimately burn-out.
By 2012, I was still in the same job, doing really well professionally, and back to brilliant energy and health. This was thanks to everything I had discovered and tried out about energy healing and natural healing (Reiki, Yoga, raw food, green smoothies, detoxification, meditation etc.).
I had clearly mastered my physical, mental and emotional challenges in the very demanding corporate environment.
I have since experienced the same AGAIN, only in a different setting, ie as a start-up entrepreneur. I'll only say this much about the relapse: I allowed myself to be distracted by family issues once again, and lost my energy trying to save relationships that weren't meant to be saved. I neglected my physical health practices, my spiritual practice and my mental training in those times and my life fell apart. Completely. I know how easy it is to go into overwhelm and let your life run you, rather than the other way around. And I also know the fool-proof way out of it and into doing whatever you're here to do with playful ease and in a body that feels great, and allows you to go the extra-mile in your work, your family life and your playtime.
And that's what I am here to share: a clear message of hope! When you love what you're doing, but don't know how to handle it all anymore and have a life worth living at the same time, there is hope! You don't need to give up the job you love or change your living situation. There are many levers inside yourself that - if adjusted sensibly - make all the difference.
To my mind, the overall energy balance of a human being is a bank account, with three distinct states:
1) Chronically in debt.
2) Barely breaking even.
3) Overflowing with energy.
If you're in group 3, congratulations! I'd like to interview you for my upcoming book, and maybe we can start working on a joint project.
Most people I know, though, fall into the first two categories. And way too many are chronically overdrawing their energetic bank accounts until they can't handle the debt anymore. That's when serious illness and mishaps come up - cancer, divorce, physical accidents, burn-out, depression, mid-life crisis, failed financial investments, losing your job, a failed business, and in the worst case, death.
Even the relatively "lucky" ones in the group that barely breaks even, are constantly struggling, grinding their teeth, suffering from migraines or indigestion. And they're probably wondering whether there shouldn't be more to life than just making money to pay the bills. It's a feeling of emptiness and disconnect (not to mention the neck pain!) that I know only too well.
The good news is: I can help you stop losing precious life energy. Experience shows that all of us tend to have hidden energy leaks. I'm a specialist at identifying those and helping you close them. And I have plenty of tried and tested ways to add life energy to your personal account that I can teach you.
Because I have been there. I've been in burnout, physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and financially, several times over (apparently I had more life lessons in each field to finish...). I'm grateful I got these challenges over time, and not all at once.
I've spent years of my life, lots of energy and money finding my own way out of these energetic debts. I've read thousands of pages, consulted a good variety of doctors and alternative healers, listened to countless audiobooks and conferences, attended workshops, taken yoga-teacher training, become a Reiki master, and changed my lifestyle and nutrition. Most of it while working a challenging corporate job and passing all three levels of the CFA exam (CFA=Chartered Financial Analyst) - because I instinctively knew that I needed to master my physical being if I wanted success in any other field in my life.
I look forward to working with you!
Take care, and watch that energy
